Group Main Stream Inc is Hiring a Director of Human Resources Near Westbrook, ME

Description

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the agency’s human resource and training activities. The Director of Human Resources is also responsible for development of human resource policies, procedures and practices and ensures compliance with applicable legislation and regulations. This position is responsible for identifying and making recommendations for strategic plans as they relate to HR. The Director of HR is also responsible for the support, planning, coordination, and direction of IT-related activities of the agency.

 Essential Job Functions:

Leadership

• Annually reviews and makes recommendations to Executive Director for improvement of the agency's policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.

• Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures agency's compliance.

• Maintains responsibility for agency compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.

• Communicates changes in the agency's personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed.

• Assists Executive Director with the review and administration of the agency's wage and salary program.

• Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.

• Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the Executive Director, on personnel matters.

• Works directly with department heads to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.

• Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff recruitment, development and disciplinary practices for the agency.

• Develops and maintains a human resource information system that meets the agency's personnel information needs.

• Supervises the staff of the human resources department.

• Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.

• Represents GMS in the community, serves as a member on relevant committees, task forces etc.

• Oversees the weekly processing of the employee payroll system.

• Responsible for research, development, and administration of employee benefits programs.

• Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints.

• Represents GMS for any unemployment and workers’ compensation claims.

• Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.

• Coordinates injury protocol and ensures timely and accurate reporting as required.

• Works with contracted vendors and manages the implementation, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including telecommunications, servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.

• In collaboration with the Training Manager, ensures the agency’s compliance with training regulations and standards.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field (preferred) and three years’ experience in a Human Resource management position.

• SHRM or equivalent certification.

• Demonstrated knowledge of current federal and state HR laws and best practices.

• Possess excellent communication and presentation skills. 

• Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people.

• Proven ability to solve problems and practice time management and organization skills, prioritize multiple tasks, projects and assignments.

• Experience in conflict resolution, personnel policy development, implementation and maintenance, and benefit and compensation management.

• Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
