We have been providing training, change management, leadership development, coaching services, and IT professional services for commercial entities, federal agencies, and military clients for over 20 years. We support a U.S. Navy CMMI Level 5 Program, use a DCAA approved accounting system, and have multiple GSA contracts. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

As a Business Development Manager, you work hard to generate sales by identifying and securing new government and commercial contracts . You are goal-oriented and pursue your sales and revenue goals for our company from a variety of angles. You love the challenge and variety inherent in your job.

Your intellectual curiosity comes in handy as you spend part of your time doing in-depth research on potential business opportunities via various online tools. You use your analytical skills to filter opportunities and identify which ones best meet our scope of work, discovering areas where our capabilities and specialties could create valuable relationships. You then identify executive-level decision makers of various agencies to foster and grow working relationships with. You also review bid opportunities and make appropriate recommendations, along with your supporting rationale.

Some of your time is spent assembling information into reports and proposals. You create winning proposals by documenting our work on previous projects and presenting that information in an engaging manner. You also put together status and analysis reports and presentations as requested. Your attention to detail comes in handy as you conscientiously document activity in our customer database.

Most of all, you love that you get to spend a great deal of time interacting with people! Your primary responsibility is to use your excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with potential customers and partners as you network. Once you have established a rapport with a potential client, you present them with a compelling proposal. You continue to build these relationships as you follow up with potential sales leads.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 3 years of business development experience including the building and presentation of winning proposals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • U.S. citizen
  • Ability to pass a background screening
  • Sales and networking skills
  • Leadership skills

A bachelor's degree in business management, administration, or a related field is preferred but applicable experience may be substituted. Any Federal government or commercial experience is a plus! Knowledge of Salesforce would also be helpful. Do you have an impeccable work ethic? Do you have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal? Are you confident and able to engage with executive-level decision makers? Are you poised, diplomatic, and tactful? Do you have outstanding time-management skills? WORK SCHEDULE

This position has a flexible, partly work-from-home schedule. It requires consistent travel to the Washington, D.C. Metro area.
