Description
This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position that oversees health and wellness program development, including administering partnerships within the community, creation of innovative fitness and nutrition programming, implementation of incentive-based initiatives, marketing and communication, and member services.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Create and lead growth strategies for the Fitness Department that include specific fitness programming, wellness-nutritional component, special events, one-off programs, and collaborative programs with other departments of the JCC.
  2. Develop relationships with hospitals, universities, healthcare providers, foundations, and business groups within the community to provide partnerships for enhanced programming and outreach.
  3. Create and maintain fitness workshops and classes developed to serve JCC health and fitness and tennis members. Continually monitor all programs for quality and participation to ensure member satisfaction.
  4. Work closely with the Membership Department to introduce new and current members to fitness programs and classes.
  5. Use resources and industry knowledge to create and maintain a fitness environment that is inviting and contemporary and suitable for a wide range of demographics and programs.
  6. Provide supervision of the fitness center during peak times with a focus on developing meaningful, positive relationships with members and guests and providing excellent customer service.
Administrative
  1. Create an overall environment of communication with members regarding programs and special events.
  2. Promote and market programs to members and to the public through Evelyn Rubenstein JCC communication channels, as well as directly in the community.
  3. Provide information to the J website and acceptable social media formats, regarding promotion of programs, E-blasts, and program updates.
  4. Provide monthly reports on program stats along with updates on strategies to increase program growth and retention.
Department Responsiobilities
  1. Serve as an example of overall health and wellness as well as a positive representative of the fitness department and the JCC.
  2. Maintain visibility in the Fitness Center during peak times to create an atmosphere of openness and availability for members.
  3. Maintain a positive attitude and exude an overall presence of warmth and member service.
  4. Wear appropriate J branded attire during working hours.
  5. Organize and lead Fitness Open Houses, health and fitness workshops and other fitness related events.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum 3-5 years of facility management, experience in Fitness Industry, Aquatics or related field.
  2. 4- Year college degree in fitness related field or active Personal Training Certification from an NCCA accredited organization (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, NSPA, ISSA, NCEP etc.) is preferred.
  3. Experience in creating and instructing fitness-based classes and programs in a variety of formats and targeted towards a wide range of demographics including adults, children, and special needs. Personal and group training experience preferred.
  4. In-depth operational knowledge of resistance, functional and cardiovascular training equipment, and the ability to demonstrate usage of equipment and basic exercises.

  3. Occasionally required to lift and move objects weighing up to 45 lbs.
