Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Tech 3 is an advanced position that is responsible for mechanical equipment and machinery ensuring limitedproduction downtime whenever possible. In addition, the Maintenance Tech 3 diagnoses machinery components and determines if and when adjustments or repairs are required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

(Other duties may be assigned as needed)

  • Priority 1- Safety, proactively address unsafe conditions, eliminating the potential for the similar situation to occur again.
  • Priority 2- Down Equipment, at an advanced level, diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems during production and repair as needed. After repair is completed, check repaired item for proper operation.
  • Ensure that production equipment is maintained in a safe and secure manner.
  • Respond timely to urgent issues causing production downtime, reductions in production efficiency or causing a safety concern.
  • Priority 3- Corrective actions repairs from backlog or PM inspections. Ensure that all production machinery and equipment is performing safely and correctly, with parameters designed. Use WO backlog list or "new CMM system-IQMS" to control their completed.
  • Priority 4- PM Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all equipment in accordance with written procedures.
  • Priority 5- Requests and Projects are planned and completed (prioritized as needed) Complete projects/priorities according to schedule, as assigned.
  • Estimate time and extent of repairs.
  • This is very important - Promote teamwork by demonstrating a spirit of collaboration and cooperation on the job with co-workers and other shifts and departments, by striving to meet objectives.
  • Support Engineering, Tool Room, Machine Technicians, and Team Leaders as needed.
  • Accurate and timely completion of Maintenance Incident Reports (Internal Asset notes, prior to new CMMS IQMS).
  • Basic blueprint reading including understanding tolerances.
  • Basic plumbing skills (sweat copper pipe and fittings, cut/thread steel pipe and fittings, cut/glue PVC pipe and fittings).Ability to troubleshoot industrial machinery first at a basic level at overview, then at an advance level with familiarity.
  • Able to provide and implement improvements to increase up time on equipment.
  • Provide and implement predictive maintenance on equipment.
  • Good mechanical Ability to perform repairs and preventative maintenance tasks on industrial machinery.


Experience and Skills:

Minimum Level of Education/Training Required:

  • 1 - 5 years in manufacturing maintenance role.

Minimum Level of Education/Training Required:

Over 7 years in manufacturing maintenance role.

High School diploma or equivalent

Electrical Degree or certificate, PLC certificate

Minimum to Advanced Experience Required:

  • Advanced electrical/PLC, mechanical troubleshooting (Use of wiring schematics, ladder logic to install and troubleshoot low voltage, single phase and three phase distribution circuits for repair and installation following code).
  • Advanced fabrication skills.
  • Advanced calibration and alignment skills.
  • Machinery moving and set up skills, squares, and alignments.
  • Advanced skills using measuring equipment. (Indicators of multiple types, Micrometers of multiple types, calipers, precision levels, precision squares, etc.).
  • Advanced skills using Machine tools- such as lathes, mills, grinder, cutting tools etc.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting/repairs of production equipment including: pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, mechanical systems, PLC’s- trouble shoot from print logic, view live, edit program if needed, VFD drives, motors etc.
  • Ability to operate, inspect, and repair pneumatic and electric power hand tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of grease, oils, to inspect, to adjust and set to specifications, etc. Various components including bearings, linear bearings, ball screws, chains, belts, filters, and etc.).
  • Advanced understanding in Machining and fabrication (be able to use drill presses, grinders, milling machinery and lathes, etc.).
  • Ability to weld (Arc, Mig / Tig, Oxy /Act, Plasma cutting and welding).
  • Ability to fabricate components from written and verbal instruction.
  • Ability to troubleshoot industrial machinery first at a basic level at overview than at an advance level with familiarity.
  • Ability to calibrate CNC trimming equipment, understanding of basic CNC operation, and programing.
  • Basic PC operation using Windows office software’s.
  • Basic operation for Maintenance Software modules for PM, WO’s.

License or Certificate Required:

  • Electrical certificate, with in various degrees of accomplishment.
  • PLC certificate, from basic to advanced programing degree.
  • Forklift driver certificate (Hampel provides on-site training), Scissors lift, Boom lift training experience.
  • Fall protection training experience.
  • First responder training, Bloodborne pathogen certified - optional.
