Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution, with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
In addition to basic computer skills, candidates must demonstrate advanced proficiency in Google Suite, word processing, spreadsheet applications, and database management.
Showcase familiarity with specialized software relevant to the role, such as student information (Powerschool and Powerschool for Special Programs) and absence management systems (Red Rover).
Knowledge of Medicaid Billing and demonstrated skill in CompuClaim software including logging transportation for Medicaid
Previous experience in office setting, with a proven track record of success in managing general office procedures and operating office equipment efficiently is preferred.

Essential Job Duties:
Provide administrative support to the Special Education Director.
Support special education staff as well as provide guidance as it relates to compliance and state guidelines.
Maintain special education student files.
Must possess excellent organizational, problem solving and communication skills.
Must possess the ability to prioritize several concurrent projects while working to meet deadlines.
Working knowledge of IDEA and MARSE Rules.
Must be able to meet and interact with employees and parents/guardians in routine situations, which require tact, discretion, and courtesy.
Create 30-day compliance calendar for special education document timelines.
Process all submitted IEP and IEP related paperwork, reviewing and finalizing each document thoroughly for accuracy and compliance including verification of programs and services.
Maintain accurate and complete caseloads for all special education staff.
Maintain all special education program records in compliance with State, Federal and District guideline.s
Stay up to date on MDE and Special Education law changes.
Process records request and transfer of documents to other districts.
Provide support Special Education staff as it relates to the IEP process and Medicaid including running monthly reports and Medicaid summaries.
Maintain Special Education staff list for Medicaid billing.
Assist with MI-Access process including: pre-id of students, running reports for student accommodations, ordering testing materials and proper return of all MI-Access materials.
Assist with Extended School Year parent notification.
Assist with professional development and special projects by providing support for room set up, event planning, and technology set-up.
Process mileage and expense claims, purchase orders, low incidence requests.
Maintain inventory and order department supplies and equipment.
Register special education staff for UKERU and CPI training and keep record of certification expirations.
Must maintain department budget and have knowledge of New World software.
Process approvals for special education staff in coordination with the WISD and MDE.
Register preschool aged special education students.
Create vendor contracts.
Attend conferences or trainings as it relates to the department.
