Frontier Behavioral Health is Hiring a Peer Support Specialist - TEEN Peer - WISe Program Near Spokane, WA

**WRAPAROUND WITH INTENSIVE SERVICES (WISe)**

WISe is a team and community-based model that provides individualized services to ensure youth and their families live successfully in their homes and communities. This program provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare services and supports to Medicaid-eligible individuals age 21 or younger and their families.

WISe services will:

* Reduce the impact of mental health symptoms on youth and families, increase resiliency, and promote recovery

* Keep youth safe, at home, and progressing in school

* Help youth avoid delinquency

* Promote youth development and maximize potential to grow into healthy, independent adults.

* Focused and driven by the needs of family and family's support community; and provided in partnership with the client, family, and mental health provider.

The WISe Teen peer support specialist is specially trained to work as a part of a wrap-around team providing services to WISe enrolled youth and families in their home and community within all phases and activities of WISe.

This is a specialized position requiring a willingness to be on-call outside of normal business hours to respond to clients (usually via the phone) on a rotational basis with the other WISe team members.

The WISe Teen peer is to provide targeted support services and to assist in the provision of a system of care that is child-centered with the needs of the child and family determining the types and mix of services provided, to assist in preventing an out-of-home placement. To be effective, the WISe Youth/Parent peer will work with children in their homes and communities and incorporate the entire family in the treatment program, focusing on their strengths as well as the childs age and cultural heritage. The WISe Teen Peer will need to maintain close communication with other WISe team members, and another clinical and administrative staff in order to assure the highest quality of services is delivered to the youth consumer and his/her family.

***ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:***

* As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, assist clinicians in the development of treatment objectives and interventions for clients enrolled in mental health services;

* Provide peer counseling and support, drawing on common experiences as a peer, to clients, parents, caregivers, and natural/community supports by encouraging them to regain hope in, and control over, their own lives.

* Identify services and activities that promote recovery and resilience, assisting clients to identify strengths, recognize successes, and to build hope.

* Mentor clients to build self-advocacy skills, navigate health systems, build natural supports, and find meaningful activities that promote a sense of purpose, structure and inclusion in the community.

* Promote personal responsibility for recovery as the individual client and/or mental health service provider defines recovery.

* Mentor clients to explore networking through existing advisory groups and client-run organizations; if applicable, help clients become involved as an advocate for others.

* Provide individual and group services (appropriate to scope) for enrolled clients including facilitating recovery groups.

* Mentor clients to build and maintain community living skills and access community resources;

* Support clients who are pursuing educational, vocational, or volunteer services;

* Engage with assigned clients prior to discharge from inpatient psychiatric care, participate in discharge planning, as directed and assigned, and accompany clients as they transition into the community as appropriate.

* Assist clients in need or in times of personal crisis with finding appropriate resources for stabilization in the least restrictive environment appropriate.

* Contact clients referred by a clinician that are not attending scheduled appointments in order to identify barriers and problem solve solutions to client attendance.

* Work with clients in preparation of graduating from services.

* Maintain client records and all other required documentation in a timely and confidential manner, in accordance with agency policies and practices.

* Provide after-hours coverage on a schedule rotation, if applicable.

**QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:**

***REQUIRED:***

* The WISe Teen Peer position requires the individual have lived experience and has been the recipient of mental health services as a youth.

* High School diploma or equivalent.

* Must submit for Agency Affiliation within 30 days of hire.

* Certification as a Peer Counselor consistent with WAC 388-865-0107; required within six months of employment.*

* There is no education requirement to attain certification as a Peer Counselor; however, rate of pay will be based on the Peer Support Specialists' education level as follows:

Peer - No secondary education degree, Associate degree: or three years of experience as a Certified Peer Counselor; or bachelors or masters degree in unrelated field in lieu of AA degree, Bachelor's degree in behavioral health related field.

Peer Sr. - Master's degree or higher in behavioral health related field

***PREFERRED:***

* One-year experience working as a Certified Peer Counselor in Washington State or other state equivalent; or two years' experience working in a community behavioral health setting.

***KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:***

* Must have reliable transportation, insurance and an active drivers license and be willing to use personal vehicle in the course of work.
