Position Title: Business Development Manager Reports To: EVP of Sales
Status: Exempt Department: Sales
Position Purpose:
We are seeking a driven and results-oriented Business Development Manager with a proven track record that can lead our client acquisition efforts. This pivotal role is responsible for expanding our market presence by identifying and securing new clients, encompassing both new agents and large direct accounts. The successful candidate will have a keen understanding of the automotive sector and a passion for building lasting client relationships.
Essential Job Functions: The Business Development Manager must be able to perform all the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Strategic Client Acquisition:
Proactively identify and cultivate relationships with potential clients, including new agents and large direct accounts.
Develop a comprehensive client acquisition strategy aligned with the company's growth objectives.
Market Penetration:
Conduct market research and analysis to pinpoint emerging trends and competitive opportunities.
Utilize data-driven insights to devise targeted approaches for client outreach.
Travel and Relationship Building:
Devote a minimum of 75% of working hours to traveling to meet with clients, prospects, and partners, both domestically and possibly internationally.
Foster and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, industry influencers, and stakeholders.
Proposal and Contract Development:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create persuasive presentations and tailored proposals showcasing CalTex's products and services.
Lead contract negotiations, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements for both parties.
Performance Tracking:
Monitor and report on sales performance, providing regular updates to the management team.
Leverage advanced CRM software and modeling to track leads, opportunities, and client interactions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of successful business development and sales experience in the automotive industry.
Extensive knowledge of automotive F&I products, services, and market dynamics.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Self-driven and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Proficiency in advanced CRM software, data analysis, and Microsoft Office Suite.
A demonstrated understanding of automotive market trends and emerging technologies.
In addition, a qualified applicant will have:
Must be able to travel 75% or more of the time.
Strong organizational and computer skills.
Strong time management skills.
Strong presentation skills.
Strong negotiation skills.
Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels to include executive management.
Ability to analyze complex problems, identify solutions, and follow through to resolution.
Valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance and acceptable driving record.
Commission:
The commission structure will be highly competitive, based on a percentage of revenue generated from new client acquisitions. The commission percentage will be tiered, increasing as specific sales targets are achieved or exceeded.
Performance-Based Bonuses:
There will be performance-based bonuses tied to meeting or surpassing quarterly and annual sales targets.
One-Year Base Salary Guarantee:
To provide the Business Development Manager with a strong incentive to excel in the role, we offer a one-year base salary guarantee. During the first year of employment, regardless of commission earnings, the employee will receive their base salary. This guarantee allows the employee to focus on building a robust client base and achieving sales targets without financial concerns during the initial year.
Performance Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated regularly, and the compensation structure will be adjusted as the Business Development Manager achieves or exceeds sales targets. After the one-year base salary guarantee period, the compensation structure may be further tailored to emphasize commission-based earnings.
