Assistant Controller

Manage area of accounting including six corporate and two property accountants. Will expand to overseeing other areas in accounting department (i.e., Payroll, AP, AR, and Utilities).

Responsibilities include:

• Assist Controller in review of daily and monthly bank reconciliations, vendor payments, and month end financial statements.
• Oversee and prepare month end financial journal entries.
• Review yearend fixed asset and monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Review monthly inventory reconciliations for properties.
• Review and assist with preparation of yearend tax workpapers.
• Review personal property tax returns.
• Oversee and schedule quarterly property audits.
• Review and schedule replacement reserve request.
• Assist with financial reporting during the close and post-close process for dispositions and acquisitions of properties.
• Oversee commercial property accounting.
• Partner recordkeeping, quarterly letters, and distributions
• Investment account reconciliation
• Provide assistance to team members.
• Special Projects assigned by Controller.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
• CPA designation or MBA, preferred.
• 5 years of experience in accounting
• 2 years of supervisory experience with ability to lead, motivate, support, and manage.
• Excellent analytical skills
• Ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of staff and upper management.
• Advanced Excel skills
• Ability to multi-task, stay organized and anticipate the needs of the team in a dynamic environment.
