Oakview Terrace Assisted Living Facility is Hiring a Personal Care Aide Near Port Richey, FL

Job Purpose:

The Resident Service Associate (RSA)/Personal Care Aide (PCA) is responsible for performing various customer care activities and related non-professional services essential to caring for personal needs and comfort of customers and residents.

The responsibilities of the RSA/PCA include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Arriving to and punching in for work, on-time, for the scheduled shift.
  • Having the provided supplies, keys, uniform, etc. as needed for your position.
  • Not having any type of cell phone, palm pilot, blackberry or other messaging devices other than assigned by (ASSISTED LIVING) on your person.
  • Reading the Communication/24 Hour Shift Book and getting Verbal Report from the Care Manager that you are relieving.
  • Picking up your respective assignment sheet and keeping it with you at all times.
  • Observing all Universal Precautions and Infection Control Standards.
  • Responsible for daily assignments on the Assignment Sheet.

Responsible ensuring that all AM for each resident on your assignment has been rendered.

  • Responsible for the bathing/showering and/or shaving as assigned or needed for residents as well as all necessary documentation of shower given. If shower not given, the Resident Service Associate must notify the LPN Supervisor or DON.
  • Responsible for dressing and assisting residents with necessary Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
  • Responsible for neatly putting all residents’ clean laundry away
  • Making resident’s bed and/or changing linens
  • Pulling resident room trash daily.
  • Responsible for making sure there are not tripping hazards in the Residents’ rooms and/or common areas and to clean up any clutter that is noticed in the room.
  • Responsible for checking and answering call bells whether or not resident/room is specifically assigned to Care Manager.
  • Responsible for reporting to either the Registered Nurse, Director of Nursing and/or LPN Supervisor as well as logging in the Communication/24 Shift Report Book and/or Point Click Care (PCC) when there is a change in a resident’s condition, incident, fall, etc. If a resident is feeling ill, the RSA/PCA will question the resident about their symptoms and if necessary, follow up with emergency procedures.
  • Responsible for assisting with Dining Services
  • Transporting residents to their meals
  • Taking Resident meal orders
  • Serving Residents
  • Assisting with clearing dirty dishes from resident tables
  • Responsible for the completion of ALL assignments noted on the Assignment Card.
  • Responsible for completing Room Checks of all residents at least at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Responsible for providing Verbal Report to the incoming shift any important and necessary information – both verbally and in writing in the Communication /24 Hour Shift report.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all incontinent residents are checked and changed as necessary.
  • May not punch out and leave residents unattended until their shift replacement has arrived and any pertinent information communicated to the incoming Care Manager.
  • Required to follow all Company Policies and Procedures, as stated in the Employee Handbook as well as the training guidelines provided in the facilities on-going in-service programs.
  • Responsible for performing all other reasonable duties as required and/or assigned.
  • Reports to the Director of Nursing, Registered Nurse and/or LPN Supervisor.

Job Skills:

· Must be in good physical and mental health

· Must be able to withstand strenuous physical activity.

· Must have visual and aural acuity to detect changes in residents’ conditions.

· Must have manual dexterity to handle instruments and equipment.

· Must possess understanding, patience and tact in dealing with infirm, chronic or acutely ill residents.

· Musts possess tact and courtesy in dealing with Residents, families and visitors.

· Must possess the ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.

· Must have a general knowledge of the Senior Management Personnel and Procedures, along with an understanding of the Chain of Command.

· Must possess the ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions as necessary.

· Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in the English language, which may be technical in nature.

· Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Evening shift
  • Weekends as needed

  • Memory care: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • CPR Certification (Required)
