Job Description
The Network Security Engineer's role is to ensure the security, stability, and integrity of all internal and external firewalls. This is achieved by planning, designing, developing, and managing firewall rules that comply with company security requirements and risk acceptance. In addition, the Network Security Engineer participates in the design, installation, monitoring, maintenance, refresh, support, and optimization of all network firewall hardware and software.
Provides firewall management including design, installation, monitoring, administration, and maintenance in a complex networking environment
Responds to the evolving threat landscape with appropriate firewall policy and configuration
Assesses firewall requests using critical thinking and security mindfulness for potential issues and advise on required changes.
Breaks down problems and determines root cause.
Investigates operational and security event driven network anomalies.
Evaluates and configures email and text alerts generated from firewalls for configuration or performance issues, and other supported devices.
Advises other security and network engineers as necessary
Leads architecture designs for network security systems, including client VPN and firewalls.
Maintains network flow monitoring system.
Consults with network engineering to incorporate netflows where possible.
Adheres to team and department processes and procedures for change control and trouble ticket resolution
