Duties and responsibilities
- Ensure telephone requests are handled quickly and professionally
- Respond to / document incoming requests from customers
- Direct specific inquiries to the appropriate team / individual
- Maintain a positive, pleasant demeanor with all callers
- Fulfill customer requests accurately
- Process refill requests as needed
- Process STAT orders as needed
- Research disposition of drug orders quickly and accurately
- Act as a liaison between the pharmacy and the facility
- Act as a point of contact for customer inquiries
- Contact facility as needed to clarify faxed requests
- Inform facility of items in upcoming cycle (preliminary packing slips)
- Communicate with physician offices verbally, or electronically, to professionally obtain prescriptions
- Participate in the on-call rotation -voluntary (incentive pay)
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Active pharmacy technician license from the Indiana State Board of Pharmacy preferred
- Previous customer service experience extremely valuable and desired
Working conditions
The normal working hours for a customer service technician are Monday through Friday 9:00AM-6:00PM and may require extra time depending upon daily workloads. Saturday shifts are also required to support our customers. Young at Heart strives to request volunteers to cover, but may need to designate personnel if no volunteers are available. Customer Service is comprised of several technicians who must work well together as a team.
This position involves multiple hours of phone time per day speaking with Young at Heart doctors, leaders, administrators, and patients.
Physical requirements
This position requires:
- Sitting, working at a computer for up to 8 hours a day, minus scheduled breaks
- Functioning with a standard desk-top keyboard and mouse
- Operating a desk phone with either handset or wireless headset
- Communicating with employees, patients, caregivers and physicians by phone, fax and email in a courteous and professional manner
