Robert Half is partnering with a growing company in the Huntington Park, California area who has an opening for a Payroll Clerk who will support the Payroll department in a variety of duties. This challenging position is a great opportunity for a self-starter looking to work with an industry leader and expand their career. The position seeks a candidate who is skilled in communicating with both the internal team and outside customers while being part of a dynamic, fast-growing team. JOB DESCRIPTION:- Paycor experience- QuickBooks- Epicor and Great Plains desired, but not mandatory The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Work closely with the Payroll Team to ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, deduction, wage and hour and tax laws.Assist in conducting regular audits of payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring payroll accuracy and mitigating compliance risks.Generate and review standard payroll reports, including earnings statements, tax reports, and 401K benefit summaries, to verify data accuracy and completenessPerform basic data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, or potential issues in payroll dataCreate new reporting as needed and download and distribute accounting reportsProcess Bi-weekly payroll and support the processing of bi-weekly payroll for employees including but not limited to garnishments, current and retro benefits, and taxesServe as a backup resource for bi-weekly payroll processing during peak periods, vacations, or in the absence of other team members.Collaborate with the payroll specialist to ensure timely and accurate payment to employeesAssist with processing of ad hoc manual and final paychecks for employees as needed.Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to the HRIS, Time and Attendance and/or payroll system.Maintain and audit employee payroll record, tax information, and other relevant payroll data in the HRIS database.Coordinate with HR about changes in Payroll (terminations, new hires, etc) and assist HR with Importing data as needed.Provide prompt and accurate assistance to employees regarding payroll-related inquiries, including paycheck inquiries, tax withholding questions, and benefits-related matters.Communicate payroll-related information to employees in a clear and approachable manner, ensuring understanding and transparency.Communicate with HR, location supervisors and managers on payroll items and topicsCollaborate with the payroll team on special projects, such as process improvements, system enhancements, or implementation of new payroll policies or regulationsPerform other special assignments and/or requests as needed
