St. Joseph's Community Health Foundation is Hiring a Community Impact Director Near Fort Wayne, IN

POSITION TITLE: Community Impact Director

HOURS: Approximately 40 Hours Weekly

REPORTS TO: Executive Director, St. Joseph Community Health Foundation (SJCHF)

The St. Joseph Community Health Foundation believes every life is valuable and those who are most vulnerable need to be respected with access to quality, affordable health, and wellness care. Therefore, the St. Joe Foundation is committed to investing in and collaborating with community agencies in Allen County, Indiana to improve the physical, mental, and spiritual health of the poor and underserved.

Inspired by Saint Katharina Kasper and sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, the St. Joe Foundation, has invested over $27M through nearly 2,000 grants local agencies since 1998 collaborating with them to improve the lives of our most vulnerable. Focus areas include refugees and immigrants, prenatal and infant care, food, and nutrition insecurity, and ensuring access to quality health and wellness care.

The St. Joe Foundation is committed to quality, caring relationships and service to the grantees, partner organizations, stakeholders, board members and peer funders. The Community Impact Director is the program officer who will serve as a thought partner to the Executive Director and manage the relationships and grants to agencies serving vulnerable populations in Allen County, IN. The position is a full-time position.

Community Impact:

  • Be well-versed in the barriers that prevent vulnerable and marginalized populations from accessing health and wellness care by meeting regularly with current grantee partners to build informed relationships, attending community meetings, briefings, webinars, and in-person meetings with trusted individuals serving these populations.
  • Help identify opportunities to offer programming to strengthen grantees, community infrastructure, and other efforts to bring about a transformative impact from the Foundation’s investments.
  • Works with other St. Joe Team members and community partners to organize educational seminars, special meetings, directories, one-time projects, and other events hosted by the Foundation addressing needs in the community.
  • Serve as a connector, helping trusted individuals and operating programs serving vulnerable populations connect with resources and information that might leverage greater impact.
  • Listen and as needed, serve as a spokesperson advocating for the vulnerable populations impacted through these projects.
  • Assist trusted individuals and coach organizations in developing fundable strategies if needed.

Grants Management:

  • Establishes strong working relationship with current grantees to ensure effective communication.
  • Listen to the grantees to learn how to strengthen their capacity.
  • Work with prospective grant applicants to coach them in developing grant applications that both advance the applicant’s goals and the vision of the Foundation.
  • Review grant applications, clarify ambiguities, and present applications to Grants Committee with funding recommendations on how to best address to further the Foundation’s mission.
  • Maintain files and data related to the applications in shared grantmaking software.
  • Oversee correspondence to grantees coordinating with Executive Director and other staff.
  • Prepare grant and reporting agreements.
  • Monitor grantee reports.
  • Help communicate the impact of grant(s).

Commitment to the Foundation’s Values:

  • Has an understanding and commitment to serving the vulnerable in our community as inspired by Gospel values and the Foundation’s sponsor, the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
  • 5 Years of experience in philanthropy, nonprofit, or faith-based organizations working with vulnerable populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to set clear goals and develop and implement metrics to measure outcomes.
  • Customer service orientation, interpersonal skills, and ability to build trusted, reliable relationships.
  • Understand the impact of their work on others and adapt to change effectively and collaboratively.
  • Can manage multiple projects simultaneously with various stakeholders and deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Able to provide clear and relevant information to a variety of internal and external audiences.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team and working effectively with persons and communities from diverse cultural, social, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to think strategically in the design and execution of programs
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information tactfully and respectfully
  • Proficient with MS Office and other office softwares
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work to consistently meet deadlines
