Saw Operator - Days & Afternoons

• Note: As a union-based employer, we are unable to guarantee any shift preference following initial training on day shift. Shift preference is granted by seniority. All candidates should expect to work afternoon shift following initial training.
  • Day Shift: 6 AM - 2 PM
  • Afternoon Shift: 2 PM - 10 PM

Position Overview: Canton Drop Forge, a leading producer of large, closed die forgings in Canton, Ohio, is seeking Saw Operators to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use differing saws to cut, miter, or groove steel bars, tubes, or sheet metal stock.
• Transferring metal stock pieces to and from table or automatic feed mechanism.
• Stamping identification marks on stock.
• Assess dimensions of stock throughout steel preparation process.
• Handling and operating various tools and equipment relating to processing.
• Operation of Powered Industrial Trucks.
• Performing duties within coordinated work effort of the steel receiving operation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand majority of shift.
• Job involves standing, walking, twisting, turning, reaching, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds repeatedly during the day.
• Must be able to tolerate extreme heat in summer months and extreme cold during winter months.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to read a tape measurer up to 1/8 inch.
• Must be able to read and write legibly.
• Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal oversite.
• Excellent oral communication.
• Follows all company policies and safety procedures.
• Ensure that all the parts being worked on are of the highest quality.
