Precision Component Industries LLC / PCI is Hiring a Plant Superintendent Near Canton, OH

This position has responsibility for the people and processes which are linked to the manufacturing, quality, and on-time delivery of the product. Plant Superintendent is responsible for the execution and coordination of site/shift operations for the PCI/PRO business units and meeting operations budgetary, quality, and on time delivery goals. The Plant Superintendent will formulate annual operational objectives and programs governing manufacturing of products that meet both internal and external expectations. The Plant Superintendent manages and assures operational compliance with all required certifications to meet or exceed customer and/or industry requirements. The Plant Superintendent shall ensure that all safety requirements are followed, and the plant is environmentally compliant. The Plant Superintendent will lead continuous improvement initiatives, maintain and/or repair equipment, train, and cross train team members, and assure that 5-S initiatives are supported.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Leads performance of the Business by planning, coordinating, and managing all production departments.
  • Adhere and support corporate values, customers, productivity through people, profit, innovation, team relationships and culture.
  • Provide leadership and support for the promotion of products manufactured, services performed, support development of new markets, increased share of current markets, and maintain competitive position in industry.
  • Provides support and leadership to the team and establishes key performance indicators to meet business goals.
  • Sets a level of excellence for associates in the organization for servicing all customers both internal and external.
  • Provide the vision and support to develop talent depth in the organization.
  • Establish quality and efficiency of production processes to meet performance objectives.
  • Promote positive leadership to enforce safety and environmental compliance.
  • Collaborate with HR for hiring and training needs, specifically to meet business objectives.
  • Lead the development and implementation of improved operating methods, systems, and procedures to reduce costs and to improve quality performance.
  • Develop effective lines of communication and cooperation between departments and functions within areas of responsibility.
  • Promote strong team-building skills. Demonstrated ability to mentor and motivate, as well as to delegate and empower others to succeed.
  • Ability to understand and interpret part print/process specifications, GD&T, CNC programs, models, or customer requirements to determine materials/machines/processes required to manufacture parts.
  • Oversee and manage the set-up and operation of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other equipment used to produce parts to meet customer requirements.
  • Train and/or oversee work requiring a thorough knowledge of machine shop practices and techniques, properties of various materials, application and operations of various CNC part programs, machines, manufacturing processes, tools, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Ability to demonstrate and train team members in the proper use of precision measuring equipment and gages to assure product quality.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and analyze production and/or equipment issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Assure that the machines and processes are maintained with the proper Preventive Maintenance to maximize uptime.
  • Coordinate and oversee the timely repair of equipment when unplanned downtime occurs.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

The Plant Superintendent will conduct supervisory and managerial responsibilities in accordance with PCI and Ohio Grating’s organizational policies, applicable federal, state, and local laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance: rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems, and career development.

Education and/or Experience:

  • BS Operations Management, Engineering and/or Business Administration with 3-5 plus years of management experience and/or 10 years experience in precision machining or related industry preferred.
  • Previous CNC Programming experience a plus.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications to include databases, MRP/ERP system and developing labor standards for cost structure preferred.
  • Must have an elevated level of energy, be purposeful, confident and have strong people skills. Must be able to establish and maintain a strong rapport and positive relationships with all levels of staff.
  • The ideal applicant will be strategic in his/her orientation, initiative-taking, persistent, and able to manage multiple projects and customers simultaneously.
