Superior Dairy in Canton, OH is in search of an experienced Buyer-Plant Services. In this role, you'll handle purchasing, coordinating maintenance orders, negotiating with vendors, and ensuring smooth workflow. Core responsibilities include supplier research, quote acquisition, managing urgent orders, and nurturing supplier connections. It's crucial to maintain accurate purchase order tracking and collaborate with accounting for reconciliation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Purchase materials, supplies, and inventory items according to established guidelines and industry standards.
  • Order manufacturing maintenance and repair items and coordinate vendor service calls for onsite inspections, scheduled maintenance, and repairs of equipment and machinery.
  • Research and interview suppliers to find the most cost-efficient sources while ensuring quality and availability for a fast-paced production environment.
  • Request quotes for supplies and services from vendors and handle negotiations on pricing, delivery, and payment terms aligned with company policies and objectives.
  • Occasionally coordinate rush deliveries of critical parts via courier in collaboration with suppliers and team members.
  • Periodically visit key suppliers to foster long-term relationships and gain insight into their products and processes.
  • Prioritize workflow based on urgency and budgetary constraints.
  • Establish an effective system to track and store purchase order information and provide updates to team members.
  • Collaborate with Accounting to reconcile discrepancies between purchase orders and invoices.
  • Other assigned duties

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Effective planning/organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities
  • Analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Manufacturing/mechanical aptitude
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • High integrity, punctual, dedicated and team-oriented
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• An associate degree is preferred, but a high school diploma or GED, coupled with relevant experience

• Prior experience in accounting, business, computer training, and data entry, or formal training in these areas, would be beneficial for learning the job.

• Preferably, candidates should have at least two years of experience in a purchasing role within a manufacturing facility.
