Companions is Hiring a Human Resources Specialist Near Baltimore, MD

JOB PURPOSE

Provide guidance on various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, and other DDA / government regulations. In addition to, working and communicating effectively with management, supervisors, support staff, and external contacts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of these essential functions at a satisfactorily level. Other essential and non-essential functions may be assigned.   • Partners with Companions’ leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resources and talent strategy, particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and other employees when complex and sensitive questions and issues arise; may also be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoings, and terminations.
  • Ensures all HR actions are compliant with organizational policies and procedures as well as, with federal, state laws, and regulatory agency compliance.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect operations by keeping personnel data confidential and maintaining a high level of discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Responsibilities are recruitment, onboarding and benefit administration as well as administrative support\
    • Administers the recruiting process
    • Sources and recruits for all positions
    • Works with hiring managers to discuss ideal candidates and ensure job description is accurate
    • Coordinates interviews
    • Conducts screening interviews and participates in primary interviews
    • Makes offers of employment
    • Create profiles for new hires to complete new hire paperwork and training
  • In partnership with the company’s broker, Human Resources Specialist administers health and wellness benefits

    • Employee resources for 403(b) including enrollment, loans, hardship withdrawals, etc.
    • Responsible for the administration and processing of employee benefits including but not limited to: 403(b), Workers Comp, FMLA, unemployment
  • Conduct Exit Interviews when employees are separating with the company

  • Manage day-to-day office operations

    • Prepare correspondence, contracts, reports, and other documents, using word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software

MINIUMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

These describe the minimum level of qualifications needed for an individual to perform the essential functions of the position including education, licensure or certification, and any measurable, job-related experience.

  • Must have minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources related field
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred
  • 2-3 years of professional Human Resources experience, preferably in the non-profit industry
  • Experience working with an IDD population agency provider a plus!
  • Computer/System Skills: MS Office, Gmail, GoogleDocs, and abilities to maintain cloud-base human resources database program
  • Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation with a private vehicle insurance required
