The Judge Group is Hiring an Employee Relations Specialist (1046644) Near Alexandria, VA

Location: Alexandria, VA
Description: The Judge Group is currently seeking a Employee Relations Specialist to support a large company in Old Town Alexandria. This position offers a hybrid schedule with two days per week from home. For immediate consideration email your resume to rkissinger@judge.com.

Responsibilities
  • Negotiation and Dispute Resolution: Draft and implement position statements, settlement agreements, and policy changes related to collective bargaining agreements. Utilize creative and effective strategies to resolve disputes.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Advise on operational matters to enhance safety and minimize exposure to injuries or damage. Promote safety and operational efficiency objectives.
  • Disciplinary Actions and Investigations: Provide guidance to managers and supervisors on disciplinary actions, contract grievances, and investigations. Analyze workplace complaints and prepare defensible report summaries.
  • Misconduct and Workplace Violence: Advise employees and management on alleged misconduct, workplace violence, and performance issues. Handle arrests/convictions disclosures.
  • Employee Documentation: Prepare documents related to employee suspensions, demotions, and terminations.
  • Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs): Develop and track PIPs for employees with performance issues.
  • Employee Relations Training: Provide labor and employee relations training to employees and management.
  • Legal Compliance: Partner with relevant departments on workers’ compensation, FMLA, fitness for duty, and drug/alcohol testing issues.
  • Process Improvement: Implement best practices and processes to address company-wide business goals consistently and equitably.
  • Arbitration Representation: Represent the company in arbitration proceedings, conduct evidentiary hearings, and draft post-hearing briefs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Labor Relations, Human Resources, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in employee relations, including dispute resolution, grievance handling, and arbitration preparation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Outlook, and PeopleSoft HCM.
  • Thorough knowledge of current human resources laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with company policies, procedures, and labor agreements.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local employment legislation, including Title VI and Title VII laws.
