SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, the Director will provide strategic, operational and communications support for People Operations’ initiatives, which are aligned with organization growth and corporate objectives. You will have accountability for people-focused activities within your assigned working group, and, in the absence, of the CPO, the company as a whole. The Director is responsible for creation and enforcement of all employee-related policies and programs that guide the organization in achieving its business goals. You will coach leaders in best people practices and form strong partnerships across business functions to deliver value-added service to leaders and employees. The Director must maintain an effective level of understanding of business operations, its strategic planning, culture and core values. This position requires the ability to lead employees in career planning and development as well as participation in the corporate strategic planning process. The Director will work beside the Chief People Officer in execution of People Operations’ long-term strategic plan that is in alignment with being a people first, talent driven organization. The position is responsible for ensuring the People Operations function is aligned with company policy and procedures, follows ethical business practices and governmental regulations and policies.

This is a full time FLSA exempt position. It requires at least 40 work hours per week with the ability to work more if necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position serves as a servant leader, coach and mentor for other positions in the department and company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Department Leadership
    • o Leads department projects and initiatives across US business units in partnership with business leaders, CPO and other People Operations’ SMEs
    • Proactively analyzes People Ops’ processes to identify, recommend and implement opportunities for improvement in collaboration with other department SMEs and CPO
    • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues; conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations
    • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to leadership (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
    • Supports CPO with development and implementation of annual department goals, projects and measurements
    • Manages departmental budget
    • Establishes and supervises the maintenance of all people related records and reports
    • Represents the organization at networking conferences and professional events
  • Employee Engagement, Retention, Engagement
    • Acts as strategic business partner and key point of contact to business leadership at Director level and below and provide feedback to the CPO as appropriate
    • Work with department functional experts (Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, Total Rewards and Culture and Engagement) to ensure smooth delivery of all department goals and deliverables
    • Creates and owns People Operations’ dashboard, creates and monitors metrics to track effectiveness of employee retention, engagement and turnover initiatives
    • Manages (voluntary and involuntary) employee termination procedures
    • Works with Executive Team to evaluate culture alignment with processes
    • Improves CSM performance and productivity through increased knowledge, skills and abilities; is a life-long learner
    • Serves as a liaison for employees throughout the employee life cycle from onboarding through exit interviews
    • Supports the annual performance review process as needed
    • Acts as a resource for employees at the Director level and below in supporting their training and development needs, including partnering with business leaders to build development plans, performance improvement plans and other growth track processes
    • Works closely with leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
    • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
    • Promote equity and diversity as part of the culture of the organization
  • Employee Benefits & Compensation
    • Supports new hire onboarding, with explanation of benefits and instructions on enrollment process
    • Manages unemployment claims
    • In conjunction with other People Operations leaders, manages resolution of compensation, benefits, compliance, and People Operations questions, concerns and issues
    • Assists in administration of employee incentivized compensation/annual bonus programs
    • Oversees and supports the employee wellness program

DESIRED REQUIRMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Ten or more years of progressive Human Resources experience that includes business partner (HRBP), generalist or Director-level experience
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification required; SHRM-SCP preferred
  • Broad knowledge of People Operations functions
  • Strategic mindset and ability to effectively lead the implementation of initiatives across functional national teams through periods of sustained business growth and organizational change
  • Demonstrated results delivering to the business and impacting organizational success
  • A servant leadership mentality
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to professionally influence and challenge leadership and department colleagues
  • Detail orientated and organized, with ability to manage and prioritize business activities while directing national teams in a high growth environment
  • Develops, revises and implements People Operations’ policies and procedures and conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance
  • Manages HCM system
  • Supports departmental requests and needs
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Highly valued, but not required:
  • Master’s degree in business, Human Resources Management or Organizational Development
