Dubols Home Care is Hiring a Medical Biller Near Laurel, MD
- Review and verify accuracy of billing and coding for services provided;
- Calling insurance companies to obtain authorization for patients before treatment can take place;
- Creating invoices based on filing codes assigned to medical procedures;
- Submit claims to insurance companies electronically and via mail;
- Sending invoices to patients for remaining balances post insurance payout;
- Communicating with insurance companies to track payments and confirm patient coverage information;
- Follow up on and investigate unpaid claims and denials to ensure the provider receives payment;
- Process payments from insurance companies and patients updating information over the phone and appropriately post payments;
- Collecting copays from patients and notifying patients with outstanding balances;
- Resolve billing discrepancies and appeals;
- Maintain patient billing records and confidentiality;
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients regarding billing inquiries, accept and process their co-payment;
- Call insurance companies regarding discrepancy in payments if needed.
- 1-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding;
- Proficiency in medical billing software, Microsoft Office applications and Quickbooks;
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines and medical terminology;
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy: checking each payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount, identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances;
- Use monthly aging accounts receivable reports to follow-up on unpaid claims aged over 30 days;
- Must post payments in an efficient and timely manner;
- Excellent communication and organizational skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Perform additional duties as requested by supervisor and/or the Administrator;
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- High School Diploma is sufficient.
- Knowledge of business and accounting processes usually obtained from an Associates in Business Administration or Accounting or Health Care Administration is preferred. Certification in Medical Billing is a plus.
