ABOUT USAO: The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) is a public liberal arts college located in Chickasha, Oklahoma, about 40 minutes from Oklahoma City, and is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC). It is charged by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education “to provide an outstanding general education program for the State of Oklahoma with strong offerings in the liberal arts and sciences. POSITION SUMMARY:

The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) seeks a candidate to participate in our one-term Giles Family Endowed Visiting Professorship in Biology Residence Program. Through this endowment, the university invites visiting scholars to share their experience and expertise in the broadly defined field of biology through teaching and research or service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Fall 2024 position will focus on the fields of Kinesiology and/or Exercise Science. The term for this position runs from August 26 – December 6th. The scholar would be expected to be available for discussions and in contact during the two weeks prior to the semester starting.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Candidates with a Ph.D. or ABD in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field with a biological focus are encouraged to apply for this one-term endowment funded position. The scholar in residence would teach one program course (Foundations of Kinesiology) during the fall semester. The scholar in residence would also teach one upper division elective course in their field of specialty. Interdisciplinary courses that would interest students across campus are highly encouraged but not required. The scholar would work with faculty and the USAO community to engage in research and/or outreach events agreed upon. Examples could include but are not limited to engaging in research involving USAO faculty and/or students, or community facing events such as 5k’s, awareness campaigns, workshops, etc. that are open to the university and Chickasha communities.
