Position Description
The executive assistant to the president plays a vital role in providing seamless support and assistance to the university’s chief
executive officer. Responsibilities of this position include maintaining effective communication with internal and external
constituencies, including the governing board of regents, state officials, alumni, and donors to the university. This “first impression”
position requires exceptional professional and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse and complex public audiences.
Must be trustworthy and able to discern and secure confidential information. Successful candidate must also demonstrate a high
degree of independent initiative and self-direction and observe high standards of personal and professional integrity.
Knowledge and Skills
• Understanding of generally accepted office practices and effective communication skills;
called meetings, maintaining accurate records of all board and committee meetings and actions, and coordinating all
necessary correspondence between the Board of Regents and all internal and external constituencies;
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree or 3 or more years’ experience performing secretarial and administrative support to executive personnel. Experience
with editing correspondence and proficient use of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and experience with computers.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. Five or more years’ experience in an executive or higher education administrative
position. Notary license.
Reports to: President
Salary: $40,000
Benefits: Institutional fringe package includes pension plans and life, health, dental and vision insurance.
Position: Clerical, Full-time, FLSA Exempt
Hours: 8 a.m.- 5 p.m., Monday - Friday. May require some evenings and weekends.
Start Date: On or before September 1, 2023
