The Monarch San Antonio - A Legacy of Service and Sophistication

The Monarch San Antonio, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, is a 200-room, 17-story boutique hotel located in the Hemisfair District of downtown San Antonio. It is set to open in early 2026 and is inspired by the Monarch butterfly that migrates through the region each winter. The hotel will feature a full-service spa, a terrace pool, and five food and beverage concepts, including a rooftop restaurant and bar.

 Position Summary

The Pastry Cook will assist in crafting exceptional desserts, pastries, breads, and confections that reflect the highest standards of quality, presentation, and innovation. This role requires precision, artistic flair, and dedication in a fast-paced luxury hotel environment.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and execute a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and confections according to recipes and production schedules.
• Assist in developing and testing new recipes, menu items, and seasonal creations under the guidance of the Executive Pastry Chef.
• Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation in all pastry items served to guests.
• Maintain proper storage, rotation, and labeling of ingredients to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
• Keep workstations, equipment, and tools clean and sanitized, adhering to food safety standards (HACCP, ServSafe, or equivalent).
• Support pastry team during service periods, banquets, and special events.
• Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or quality issues to the Executive Pastry Chef.
• Collaborate with culinary and service teams to meet the expectations of a luxury hotel clientele.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Pastry Cook or similar role in fine-dining, luxury hotels, or high-volume bakery environments.
• Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking, chocolate work, and dessert presentation.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining precision and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with modern dessert trends and plating techniques is a plus.
• Flexibility to work shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Culinary or pastry school training preferred
• Food Handler Certification Required
