The Monarch San Antonio, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, is a 200-room, 17-story boutique hotel located in the Hemisfair District of downtown San Antonio. Position Overview
The Banquet Captain is responsible for leading banquet service teams and ensuring flawless execution of meetings, banquets, and special events. This role serves as the on site service leader, coordinating staff, timelines, and guest experience while upholding luxury service standards.
Essential Functions
Event Leadership and Execution
- Lead banquet service teams during meetings, banquets, and special events.
- Review banquet event orders and conduct pre shift briefings.
- Assign service stations and responsibilities to banquet staff.
- Ensure events are executed according to timelines and service standards.
Guest Experience and Client Interaction
- Serve as a primary point of contact during events.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and respond to requests or concerns promptly.
- Support VIP guests, hosts, and planners with professionalism and confidence.
- Ensure a polished and seamless guest experience throughout the event.
Team Coordination and Supervision
- Coordinate service flow with culinary teams and banquet bartenders.
- Monitor staff performance and provide real time guidance.
- Ensure proper setup, service, and breakdown procedures are followed.
- Support training and development of banquet staff.
Operational Responsibilities
- Verify room setup aligns with banquet event orders prior to event start.
- Oversee timing of courses, beverage service, and room resets.
- Ensure service stations and event spaces remain clean and organized.
- Assist with post event wrap up and reporting as needed.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol service standards.
- Maintain a safe and professional working environment.
- Enforce company policies and brand standards during events.
Other Duties
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by banquet leadership.
- Maintain availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and variable event schedules.
Qualifications
- Previous banquet leadership or supervisory experience required.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead teams in a fast paced, event driven environment.
- Professional demeanor and strong guest service skills.
- Food and Alcohol Service Certifications required or ability to obtain.
