Human Resources Generalist
Location: Madison, WI

We are partnering with a highly respected organization in the Madison area to hire a Human Resources Generalist with a strong focus on employee and labor relations. This is not a traditional behind-the-scenes HR role. The individual in this position will work closely with operational leaders and employees throughout the facility, serving as a trusted resource and key business partner across day-to-day operations. The environment is fast paced, highly collaborative, and ideal for someone who enjoys problem solving, relationship building, and being actively involved in the business.

Key Responsibilities
Employee & Labor Relations
- Serve as a primary HR contact for employees, supervisors, and operational leadership
- Support employee relations matters including workplace concerns, policy interpretation, attendance management, coaching conversations, and performance discussions
- Assist with investigations, disciplinary processes, grievances, and conflict resolution
- Partner closely with leadership to ensure consistent and compliant HR practices
- Build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
Leave Administration & Workers’ Compensation
- Manage FMLA, ADA, and leave of absence processes
- Coordinate workers’ compensation administration and return-to-work processes
- Partner with third-party vendors to ensure accurate documentation and compliance
- Communicate directly with employees and supervisors regarding accommodations, restrictions, and leave updates
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts for hourly manufacturing positions
- Conduct phone screens and coordinate interviews with hiring managers
- Facilitate onboarding and new hire orientation processes
- Partner with leadership to improve recruiting strategies and hiring processes
- Support a positive candidate and new hire experience
Employee Engagement & HR Operations
- Coordinate employee engagement initiatives and facility events
- Conduct exit interviews and support employee offboarding
- Process employee status changes including transfers, new hires, and terminations
- Assist with HR reporting, administrative tasks, and additional projects as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred
- Open to strong recent graduates with internship or relevant HR experience
- Approximately 2–5 years of HR experience preferred, ideally within manufacturing, operations, employee relations, or labor-focused environments
- Understanding of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to navigate difficult conversations professionally and confidently
- Comfortable working directly within a manufacturing environment
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and HR systems preferred
