Business Unit Leader – Fabrication

We’re partnering with a well-established manufacturing organization in the Madison area to bring on a hands-on, high-impact Business Unit Leader – Fabrication.
This is more than a leadership role. It is an opportunity to step in, take ownership, and drive meaningful change across a critical part of the operation. You will lead a team of supervisors, engineers, and technicians while driving performance across safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role blends strategic leadership with day-to-day execution, giving you the ability to shape direction while staying closely connected to operations.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of 10 to 12 supervisors, engineers, and technicians
- Set clear direction and execute initiatives aligned with business goals
- Partner cross functionally to ensure teams are supported and set up for success
- Identify inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Analyze performance data, determine root causes, and implement solutions
- Improve key metrics across safety, quality, delivery, and cost
- Align team priorities with overall site objectives
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and respect

What You Bring
Required:
- 5 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing or operations leadership
- 3 to 5 years of experience leading supervisors or managers
- Experience in a discrete manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to track and improve KPIs
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Professional, team oriented approach
Preferred:
- Engineering background or degree
- Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
- Cross functional leadership experience
- Experience with root cause analysis and data driven decision making
- Exposure to union environments
