The Fixed Asset Accountant will be responsible for maintaining fixed asset records, supporting capital project accounting activities, preparing journal entries and reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting and audits.
This position works closely with Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, and other internal stakeholders to ensure accurate project cost tracking and asset management.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset records, including additions, transfers, retirements, and disposals
- Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations related to fixed assets and depreciation
- Review project expenditures and invoices to determine appropriate accounting treatment
- Support capital project accounting and construction-related cost tracking
- Reconcile fixed asset subledgers to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Support internal and external audits through preparation of schedules and supporting documentation
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure proper asset classification and project reporting
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Preferred Experience
- Fixed asset accounting experience
- Capital project or construction accounting exposure
- Utility, infrastructure, engineering, or project-based industry experience
- Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
