A growing and dynamic organization in the Philadelphia area is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support its accounting and finance operations. This is a highly visible role that will partner closely with senior leadership and play a key part in financial reporting, process improvement, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Controller in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage and analyze balance sheet accounts, including reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Oversee job costing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition (if applicable)
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support audits by preparing documentation and coordinating with external auditors
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
- Mentor and support junior accounting staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4 years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting background a plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis)
- CPA or CPA-track preferred
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
