Job Summary
A growing Utility Construction Company based in Plymouth Meeting, PA is seeking a self-directed and experienced Assistant Controller to join our team immediately. This role is responsible for supporting accounting operations, financial reporting, and business analytics. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Support with daily, monthly, and year-end accounting operations
- Maintain and analyze job costing data to ensure accurate project tracking and profitability
- Manage and reconcile Work-in-Process (WIP) schedules, including revenue recognition and cost allocation
- Review WIP reports and support month-end, Quarter end & year end revenue recognition
- Prepare and post month-end general ledger entries in accordance with GAAP
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules
- Reconcile intercompany transactions across divisions
- Support fixed asset accounting, reporting, and audits
- Prepare financial statements and assist with the monthly, quarterly & annual close process
- Generate financial and profitability analyses (including gross margin reporting)
- Support with annual audits and provide documentation to external auditors
- Support tax preparation and coordinate with external tax firms
- Prepare journal entries and bank reconciliations
- Maintain AR cash receipts and miscellaneous cash postings
- Review Accounts Payable and purchasing transactions for accuracy
- Manage P-Card transactions
- Complete internal reporting during monthly, quarterly and year end close
- Assist with ad hoc financial projects and other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5 years of accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
