Position Overview
Danella is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Division Financial Controller to lead all financial and accounting activities for one of our operating divisions.
This individual will play a critical leadership role, partnering closely with Division leadership to drive financial performance, ensure accuracy in reporting, and support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in construction accounting, strong business acumen, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, field-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Division leadership to support strategic planning and operational decision-making
- Establish, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Lead and manage all accounting functions, including job costing, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements and Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
- Review financial results with Division leadership and provide actionable insights
- Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and proactively address risks and opportunities
- Collaborate with Project Managers to review monthly cost reports, analyze variances, and identify potential cost exposures
- Support project closeout processes to ensure complete and accurate billing
- Prepare and analyze financial reporting packages for senior management
- Develop and manage monthly and annual operating budgets and forecasts
- Drive financial discipline and accountability across the division
- Oversee billing processes to ensure compliance with contract requirements and support effective cash flow management
- Ensure subcontractor compliance by tracking required documentation (lien releases, insurance certificates, executed agreements) and enforcing payment controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of Controller-level experience Â
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, and WIP reporting
- Proven ability to partner with operations and senior leadership
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
- Self-directed, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $150,000 – $175,000 (commensurate with experience)
