Controller

KBW Financial Staffing & Recruiting has partnered with a client in Portland, ME, to identify an experienced Controller to join their team! This is a fully onsite opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of core accounting operations, strengthening financial processes, and supporting the organization’s overall financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Oversee general ledger accounting, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and the integrity of financial records.
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, partnering with leadership to support financial planning and business decisions.
• Evaluate, maintain, and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Oversee inventory accounting, ensuring accurate valuation, reporting, and reconciliation of inventory balances.
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
• Analyze financial results, identify variances, and provide meaningful insights to support management decisions.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  
  

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in a Controller-level role with responsibility for accounting operations and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze financial data and build reporting tools.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with leadership and cross-functional teams.
  
  

Compensation: $125-150k/year
