Controller

We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations and reporting for our organization in Augusta, Maine. This is a contract position where you will play a pivotal role in managing day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring accurate month-end closings, and supervising a dedicated team. Candidates with expertise in Microsoft Great Plains are highly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
• Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals to achieve departmental goals.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
• Utilize Microsoft Great Plains software to streamline and optimize financial processes.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for management review.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to maintain operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with other departments to address financial inquiries and support decision-making.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies in all financial activities.
• Proven experience in a Controller or senior accounting role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Great Plains software is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close processes and general ledger management.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to analyze complex financial data and present actionable insights.
• Familiarity with accounting standards and regulatory compliance.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
