Summary
Filer Middle School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a full-time paraprofessional. In this role, you will provide essential support to teachers and students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. You will assist in the implementation of educational programs, help manage classroom behavior, and support students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will be committed to student success and possess strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in the preparation and delivery of instructional materials and activities.
• Support students in their academic tasks, providing individualized assistance as needed.
• Monitor and manage student behavior in the classroom and during transitions, promoting a positive learning environment.
• Help with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• Facilitate small group instruction and tutoring sessions to reinforce learning concepts.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff to assess student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
• Assist in the supervision of students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom activities.
• Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, ensuring that materials and resources are readily available.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents regarding student progress and needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher preferred.
• Previous experience working with middle school students or in an educational setting is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
• Understanding of diverse learning needs and the ability to adapt instruction accordingly.
• Must pass background checks as required by school district policies.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
