MUSIC TEACHER

Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated music teacher to join our team at Filer High School. The ideal candidate will inspire students through the joy of music, foster creativity, and develop musical skills in a supportive learning environment. This full-time position requires a deep understanding of music theory, performance, and pedagogy, as well as the ability to engage and motivate students of varying skill levels.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that aligns with state standards and meets the needs of all students.
• Teach a variety of music classes, including but not limited to choir, band, orchestra, and music theory.
• Plan and conduct rehearsals, performances, and assessments to evaluate student progress.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and collaboration.
• Organize and oversee school music events, concerts, and competitions.
• Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate music education across the curriculum.
• Provide individualized support and feedback to students to enhance their musical abilities.
• Maintain classroom instruments and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Stay current with music education trends, techniques, and technology to enhance teaching effectiveness.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administration regarding student progress and program developments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification in music education or the ability to obtain one through an alternative authorization.
• Proven experience in teaching music at the high school level.
• Proficiency in one or more musical instruments and/or vocal performance.
• Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and pedagogy.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.
• Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
• Passion for music and a desire to inspire students to develop their musical talents.
