FILER HIGH SPECIAL SERVICES PARAPROFESSIONAL

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Filer High School as a Special Services Paraprofessional. This full-time position involves providing support to students with diverse learning needs, assisting teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), and fostering an inclusive and positive learning environment. The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing the educational experience for all students and helping them achieve their academic and personal goals.

Responsibilities

• Assist special education teachers in the implementation of IEPs and instructional plans for students with disabilities.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, ensuring they understand and engage with the curriculum.
• Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and development, reporting any concerns to the supervising teacher or special education staff.
• Support students in developing social skills, independence, and self-advocacy.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to create a cohesive support system for students.
• Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom resources.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education practices.
• Uphold school policies and procedures while promoting a positive and respectful school culture.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in special education or related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with students with special needs, preferably in an educational setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and parents.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support students in their learning journey.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing situations in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with IEP processes and special education laws is a plus.
• Must pass background checks and any required assessments prior to employment.
