Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in the classroom by preparing instructional materials and facilitating learning activities.
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, and other non-classroom activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who require additional assistance with their studies or social skills.
- Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere by encouraging student participation and engagement.
- Assist with classroom management and behavior intervention strategies as directed by the teacher.
- Monitor students’ progress and report any concerns to the teacher or appropriate staff.
- Support the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to promote student success and address any issues that may arise.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to education and child development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children learn and grow.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from educators.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Knowledge of child development and learning strategies is a plus.
- Must pass background checks as required by school district policies.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained within a specified timeframe.
