Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teachers in delivering effective instruction to ELL students, including the preparation of instructional materials and resources.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to ELL students to enhance their understanding of the curriculum and improve language skills.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for ELL students.
- Facilitate communication between ELL students, teachers, and parents, ensuring that language barriers are minimized.
- Support the integration of ELL students into the classroom environment by promoting cultural awareness and understanding.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to ELL education.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as record-keeping and data entry, related to ELL programs and student progress.
- Contribute to a positive school culture by participating in school events and activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred.
- Prior experience working with ELL students or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of second language acquisition and effective instructional strategies for ELL students.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Proficiency in a second language is a plus, particularly languages commonly spoken by ELL students.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
