What are the responsibilities and job description for the Innovation Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD position at Crossover?
You understand that the greatest kindness you can offer a student is to refuse to compromise standards. You've succeeded, competed, or achieved at a level that most people only observe from a distance: elite-level competition, a distinguished degree from a top-tier institution, a role in a highly selective organization, or a company you launched and grew. Now imagine channeling that intensity into a classroom of K-12 students who have never encountered someone with your caliber of experience in their corner, elevating them to benchmarks they didn't believe they could meet. If maintaining elite expectations for students strikes you as unreasonable, this role isn't for you.
Alpha leverages AI-driven 1-on-1 instruction so students complete core academics in roughly two hours per day. The remaining time is dedicated to life skills, passion-based projects, and meaningful development. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a credible mentor whose personal accomplishments define the standard: someone capable of assessing the environment, establishing the culture, and guiding them through resistance, lack of focus, and uncertainty.
Your role is not instructional. AI manages the academic delivery. Your responsibility is to inspire, coach, and hold students to the same rigorous standard you've maintained for yourself. Forty percent of your time involves direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching that identifies obstacles and establishes ambitious targets. Another forty percent is spent facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery, not engagement. The final twenty percent is devoted to launching each day with focused morning sessions that cultivate a culture where mediocrity is unacceptable.
The trajectory here emphasizes depth over advancement. You begin by mastering Alpha's methodology and earning trust with students. Within a few months, you become the person they rely on to challenge them beyond their perceived limits. The outcome isn't upward mobility. It's the opportunity to work with the same students year after year, remaining present as they mature. It's observing a student who struggled to make eye contact in September deliver a confident presentation to a room of adults in May.
This position remains student-centered. Students are the purpose, not a means to another opportunity. If your motivation to leave your current role is the mission itself, not resume enhancement, submit your application now.

What You Will Be Doing
- Conducting 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions leveraging Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify obstacles, establish ambitious targets, and ensure accountability for execution
- Facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery by drawing on authentic stories from your own elite background, then evaluating mastery through Alpha's Test2Pass framework
- Establishing the cultural standard each morning via focused kickoff sessions that reinforce high-performance expectations campus-wide
- Monitoring student advancement in real time and modifying coaching approaches based on evidence, not intuition
- Developing trusted mentor relationships with students and their families by maintaining high standards, demonstrating consistency, and creating documented motivation strategies
- Teaching content, creating curriculum, or evaluating assignments — Alpha's AI-powered academic platform manages instruction; you manage motivation
- Presenting to a full classroom of 30 students (your focus is intensive coaching in small settings, not large-group instruction)
- Supervising other personnel or advancing through an administrative track (this position prioritizes direct student impact over organizational progression)
- Attending faculty meetings or managing school bureaucracy (your time remains dedicated to students)
- Compromising standards to achieve targets (if a student achieves 99%, your responsibility is to uncover what prevented 100%)
