What are the responsibilities and job description for the Performance Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD position at Crossover?
You believe that holding a student to uncompromising standards is the most respectful thing you can do. Your background includes elite-level achievement that most people only hear about: competitive athletics at a national tier, graduation with distinction from a top university, acceptance into a highly selective firm, or founding a venture from the ground up. Now imagine channeling that same intensity toward K-12 students who have never had someone with your credentials advocating for them, holding them to benchmarks they didn't think they could meet. If the idea of maintaining elite expectations for students feels too demanding, this role isn't for you.
Alpha employs AI-driven 1-on-1 instruction, allowing students to complete core academics in approximately two hours each day. The remainder of their time is dedicated to life skills, passion projects, and meaningful development. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a credible mentor whose personal accomplishments establish the standard: someone who can assess group dynamics, shape the culture, and guide them through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty.
Your role is not instructional. AI delivers the academic content. Your responsibility is to motivate, coach, and enforce the same rigorous standards you've applied to yourself. Forty percent of your time involves direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions that identify obstacles and establish ambitious targets. Another forty percent is spent facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery, not engagement for its own sake. The final twenty percent is devoted to morning kickoffs that set a focused tone and cultivate a culture where mediocrity is not tolerated.
The trajectory here is deepening impact, not advancing into management. You begin by mastering Alpha's methods and earning student trust. Within months, you become the person they rely on to push them beyond their perceived limits. The reward is not a title change. It's continuity with the same students, year after year, as they mature with you supporting them. It's witnessing a student who avoided eye contact in September deliver a confident presentation to adults in May.
This position remains student-centered. Students are the purpose, not a platform for career progression. If you're motivated to leave your current position because of the mission, not the credential, apply now.

What You Will Be Doing
- Conducting 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions using Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify obstacles, establish ambitious targets, and ensure accountability for execution

- Monitoring student progress in real time and modifying coaching approaches based on data rather than intuition
- Cultivating trusted mentor relationships with students and families through consistent high expectations and documented motivation strategies

- Attending faculty meetings or dealing with institutional bureaucracy (your time remains concentrated on students)
- Compromising standards to meet targets (if a student achieves 99%, your task is to identify what prevented 100%)
