Role Overview
The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of multiple managed locations, ensuring accurate reporting and smooth execution of core accounting functions. This role is ideal for someone who can manage recurring processes, maintain strong financial controls, and contribute meaningful analysis to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Close Process
- Manage the month-end close cycle across assigned facilities, ensuring timely and accurate completion
- Verify that all bank and merchant accounts are reconciled monthly using established review procedures
- Maintain accuracy and consistency in financial records through structured controls and checklists
Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze financial statements, identify variances, and investigate discrepancies
- Prepare ad hoc and recurring reports to support leadership decision-making
- Present financial data in a clear and actionable format
Day-to-Day Accounting
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Perform routine bookkeeping, including bank and credit card reconciliations
- Record daily financial transactions from point-of-sale systems
- Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries and adjustments
Cash Flow & Transaction Oversight
- Track and record deposits to ensure all funds are accounted for promptly
- Manage accounts payable to ensure timely payments while optimizing cash flow
- Oversee accounts receivable, including invoicing and collections
- Monitor cash balances to anticipate upcoming financial obligations
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Execute internal review and audit procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Evaluate financial records and processes against regulatory and company standards
- Support required filings and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Collaboration & Support
- Provide weekly and monthly financial reports to facility leadership
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Support special projects and additional assignments as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
