About the Role
The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the finance department and ensuring robust, accurate financial processes aligned with Wendover’s operations. This position provides a comprehensive accounting experience across multiple functions, including invoicing, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, inventory accounting, and audits. The role also spans operational and strategic areas, offering exposure to supply chain, production, logistics, warehouse operations, and business growth initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
This role is ideal for a highly adaptable, detail-oriented professional who wants to build strong technical accounting skills while gaining a deep understanding of how a complex manufacturing and creative business operates.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger; prepare journal entries for month-end and year-end close.
- Perform inventory accounting for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods; reconcile physical inventory with financial records.
- Prepare fixed asset schedules, depreciation calculations, debt schedules, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Support external audits by preparing documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and addressing discrepancies.
- Execute bank reconciliations and assist with treasury management, including domestic and international payments.
Invoicing, Accounts Receivable & Commissions:
- Manage invoicing processes to ensure timely and accurate billing.
- Track accounts receivable and follow up on overdue invoices.
- Calculate and reconcile sales commissions per established policies.
- Collaborate with sales and account/project managers to resolve billing or payment issues.
Analytical & Strategic Accounting:
- Interpret financial statements to identify trends, communicate results to stakeholders, and develop actionable insights.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support operational decision-making.
- Assist in M&A integration and analysis, including documenting acquisitions and reconciling financial data.
- Understand operational cost drivers, including labor, materials, and production processes, and assess their impact on financial performance.
