Job description

Youth Service Bureau of St. Joseph County, Inc. (YSB)

Position: Full-time Service Coordinator

Job Summary: Join the only agency in St. Joseph County focused on youth. Work along experienced, dedicated staff to provide strength-based self-sufficiency case management services to young parents age 16-24. Work in a positive, caring environment where you will be making a difference!

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in one of the following (or a related) fields: Social work, Criminal Justice, Psychology.
  • 2 years experience providing case management and social services to teen/young adult populations is preferred and knowledge/familiarity in the following: child abuse & neglect, child development, domestic violence, positive youth development, trauma-informed care, teen parenting/issues and other relevant issues and practices.
  • Ability to organize and implement plans, excellent oral & written communication skills, and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance at the agency-required level, and the ability to pass drug screenings and comprehensive background checks.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES – SUMMARY*

  • Maintain a caseload of young mothers, fathers, grandparents, and their children, and in conjunction with participants, develop and implement action plans based on comprehensive assessment.
  • Provide structured learning in participants’ homes on child development, parenting, life skills, employment, academics, and physical and mental health. Provide referrals to agencies as needed.
  • Transport clients in the personal vehicle as necessary to medical appointments, interviews, etc…
  • Complete and maintain all required program paperwork and training which include but are not limited to CPR, CPI, 1st Aid, DCS reporting, Trauma Informed Care, etc…
