Under the Accounting Manager's supervision, the Accounting Specialist will perform a wide variety of accounting work to ensure and maintain a proper financial position of the credit union. In addition to managing other accounting related duties, this position maintains and reconciles daily general ledger accounts in accordance with credit union policies and procedures.

Essential duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensures that general ledger postings are completed and subsidiary records are maintained up to date and that all assigned reconciliations are performed on a timely basis.
• Ensures that client and other system audits are free from exceptions and that discrepancies are corrected in a timely manner.
• Posts daily deposits and makes appropriate adjusting entries when required.
• Prepares invoices for payment and process Accounts Payable module.
• Ensures that fixed assets are properly loaded in the Asset Register.
• Prepares and posts employee expense vouchers and corporate VISA transactions.
• ​Ensures that ATM settlement is balanced daily and that all reconciling items are cleared immediately.
• Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school, or 3 years of previous experience in related area required. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees, members, and vendors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numerical data. Ability to use common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages. Ability to effectively use electronic spreadsheets.

REASONING ABILITY:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
