Job Description

We are seeking a Human Resources Director (HR Generalist!) to lead and manage all aspects of this two-person Human Resources department. This Generalist position has responsibility for the development and implementation of all HR policies, recruitment, employee relations and benefit administration. This position reports directly to the Vice President Chief of Staff and supports the entire senior leadership team and the employees of our YMCA.
Qualifications

  • Education: Four (4) year Bachelor's degree from a competitive college or university, preferably in business or a social science (preferred).Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends and applicable laws regarding Human Resources.
    • Strong customer service-oriented work ethic, with focus on problem-solving and empowering and educating employees.
    • Good organizational and follow-up skills, good attention to detail
  • Ability to work with and through others.
    • Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including MS Excel and Outlook
    • Proficient in HR Information Systems, including ADP.
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Within 30 days of hire, obtain CPR/First Aid certifications.

Essential Functions

  • Recruiting: Post all open positions using a variety of job boards and other sites. Forward resumes to appropriate managers. Follow up with managers on a regular basis to ensure quantity and caliber of candidates meets their needs.
  • Assist department managers with recruitment and hiring of diverse staff and volunteers across multiple dimensions of diversity.
  • Ensure New Hire Orientation occurs monthly and new employees are attending; update orientation content as needed.
  • Works with Chief of Staff and Sr. staff to coordinate organization training and professional development for staff and volunteers.
  • Provide counsel and problem resolution in the areas of performance management, employee relations issues, and organizational development.
  • Oversee the annual Performance Management process.
  • Responsible for employee recognition program and events.
  • Oversee compensation and benefits programs, including job descriptions, salary structure, benefit plans, plan enrollment and administration.
  • Manage and administer Workers Comp and Unemployment processes, respond to claims in a timely manner.
  • Work with CFO, Chief of Staff and CEO to review benefit programs annually, ensure employees are informed and have access to information regarding their benefits, manage the open enrollment process.
    • Management of Y Retirement Fund deposits, education and processing.
    • Serve as staff liaison to the HR Committee; coordinate quarterly meetings and prepare content.
    • Attend all required meetings and other duties as required.

Utilizes non-threatening methods to address sensitive issues and inappropriate behavior or performance.Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.
