Job Description

The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth seeks a dynamic and passionate Community Engagement Specialist to play a key role in advancing our mission and fostering positive relationships within the communities we serve. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and results-driven individual with a strong background in annual campaign fundraising, local community event planning, and volunteer/community engagement. It is a requirement that the candidate lives in the community that the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth serves.

Qualifications

Education : Bachelor's degree in related field preferred (e.g., nonprofit management, communications, marketing). Experience in lieu of degree will be considered.

Skills & Experience :

  • Proven experience in fundraising, event planning, and community engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Has transportation and capacity for regional travel as needed.
  • Can work nights and weekends as required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant fundraising software.
Essential Functions

Annual Campaign Fundraising

The Community Engagement Specialist will lead and coordinator the organization's Annual Campaign fundraising efforts in specified territory.

Responsibilities include:

  • With direction of local and regional community executives, implement comprehensive annual fundraising plans to achieve revenue goals.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with organizational leaders, donors, sponsors, and community partners.
  • Dedicate a significant amount of time engaging in community meetings, serving as a face of the organization within the community within the specified territory.
  • Collaborate with the philanthropy and marketing teams to create compelling fundraising materials and communications.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on fundraising progress and performance to ensure clear visibility of the efforts required to reach the target.
  • Serve as a liaison for center executives to secure funding by approaching businesses or individuals.
  • Under the direction of regional and center leadership, recruit volunteers and sponsors to join the cause.
  • Create and deliver communication campaigns for donations utilizing best practices established by the YMCA Association Resource Office.
  • Develop and manage web-based fundraising when applicable.
  • Continue to encourage supporters to maintain their regular donations and inspire new supporters through relationship development.

Local Community Event Planning

This role involves planning and executing local community events that align with the YMCA's mission and engage the community. You will need to evaluate event participation or hosting through the lenses of raising funds and establishing or enhancing relationships and the donor's experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support and guide local and regional community executives in identifying and assessing opportunities for community awareness at events that promote the YMCA's programs and values.
  • Secure sponsorships for priority fundraising and community events.
  • Evaluate current fundraising efforts to increase donor engagement opportunities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute campaigns, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for participants.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, volunteers, and external partners to maximize event success.
  • Evaluate event outcomes and gather feedback to continuously improve future events.
  • Coordinate with internal staff members, and vendors to establish the requirements for an event, and serve as a liaison to senior executives, government officials, and industry leaders throughout the planning process.
  • Oversee donor and volunteer experiences from conception through post-event/meeting/campaign review; manage any on-site preparations, production, and event breakdown; and ensure consistent, high-level service throughout all phases.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive database of industry contact, vendors, and venues.

Community Engagement & Friendraising

The Community Engagement Specialist will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with community members and stakeholders. Translate objectives related to community engagement into programmatic initiative. The core activities of the position include relationship building, partnership development and stewardship.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase community awareness and engagement with the direction of local and regional YMCA executives.
  • Serve as a liaison between the YMCA and local community organizations, businesses, and local/regional government entities.
  • Create and execute initiatives to attract new supporters and volunteers.
  • Organize friendraising activities to strengthen relationship with current donors and supporters.
  • Utilize social media, networking events, and other channels to enhance the YMCA's presence in the community.
  • Facilitate regular community and membership meetings to foster relationship building, collaboration, and promote equitable services for ALL. This includes improving healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.
  • Conduct outreach, recruitment, and screening for prospective board members, community partners and other volunteers.

Required Certifications

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth offers a competitive salary and benefits package for selected candidates. The yearly salary range for this position is $55,000 to $60,000 and will be commensurate with the selected candidates experience.

It is a requirement that the candidate lives in the community that the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth serves.

The YMCA provides competitive health benefits, a well-rounded wellness program and 403-B Retirement fund paid fully at 12% of total salary each year. In addition to medical, dental and vision coverage, plus life and long-term disability insurance, a work-life balance program includes up to 288 hours of vacation and personal time.
