YMCA - CHARLOTTE is Hiring a Camp Coordinator: Morrison YMCA Near Charlotte, NC

Under the direction of the Sr. Program Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Camp Coordinator is a seasonal position and responsible for the implementation and management of specific camp programs and events as assigned.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the implementation and coordination of programs to serve youth and families in various camp programs.
  • Responsible for supervision and safety of participants including appropriate discipline within the established guidelines.
    Assist with hiring, training, supervising and evaluating youth program staff.
  • Maintain effective relationships with children and parents.
  • Monitor and maintain all supplies, materials and equipment as needed.
  • Lead individual and group activities as needed.
  • Ensure that communications are clear and ongoing.
  • Represent the Family YMCA in a professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of an Associate degree
  • Minimum 5 years related experience
  • Ability to learn and adhere to the YMCA programs, philosophies and mission.
  • Must present a professional image and posses excellent written and oral skills.
  • Supervisory skills preferred
  • Working knowledge of budget management
  • Detail oriented with strong organization skills.
  • Current certifications in CPR, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogen.
  • Ability to learn Personify or company specific software.
  • Solve problems demonstrating initiative and sound judgment in accordance with YMCA policies.
  • Ability to successfully work with a diverse population of members, staff, and volunteers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work irregular work hours.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
  • Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
  • Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
