YMCA - CHARLOTTE is Hiring a Camp Program Specialist - Preschool: Morrison YMCA Near Charlotte, NC

Under the direction of the Program Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, the Preschool Camp Program Specialist will be responsible for planning and implementing the Preschool Camp Programs for the Morrison YMCA that will serve ages 18mo-6yrs. 

Principle Activities:

  • Assist Program Director and/or Coordinator with the development of all aspects of the Preschool Camp program.
  • Plan and implement a class schedule.
  • Instruct classes at agreed upon scheduled times
  • Responsible for developing lesson plans and implementing them during time of instruction
  • Arrange for substitutes to teach scheduled classes when necessary
  • Assist in implementing program enhancements including, but not limited to end of week performances, special exhibits, family events. May require some evening or weekend work.
  • Ensure the health and safety of each participant and maintain a safe and clean program site.
  • Be a positive influence and advocate of the program.
  • Accept the goals and objectives of the YMCA and work to achieve them
  • Take part in all training or in-service activities to develop proficiencies required performing job responsibilities
  • Attend staff meetings, promptly and prepared
  • Maintain positive relationships, open communication with parents, YMCA personnel, participants, administration and volunteers
  • Assume any other duties as assigned by the YMCA administration.

 Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 1-2 years of college education in an education or child development field preferred.
  • 1 Year experience applicable work experience in field and participants.
  • Experience teaching specialized curriculum to youth ages 18mo-6yrs.
  • Ability to help the Program Director create and implement program curriculum in the specialized area.
  • Present a professional image to parents and general public
  • Enthusiastic with participants
  • Strong decision making skills, versatility, initiative, and human relation skills.
  • Ability to work well with children and adults and resolve conflict situations while developing harmonious relationships with staff, participants, members.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Safety certifications and all trainings and certifications in accordance with the Quality Standards within required timeframe.
