Under the direction of the Aquatics Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Swim Coordinator will be responsible for developing, coordinating and supervising the Branch’s Aquatics Instructional Programs.

Principle Activities:

• Responsible for the safety of facility patrons
• Enforces all of the facility’s policies, rules, and regulations
• Recognizes and responds effectively to emergencies
• Responds to patron inquiries and concerns and provides Branch information as needed
• Inspects the aquatic facility on a daily schedule and reports unsafe conditions and equipment to supervisor
• Schedule and Coordinate Staff meetings, in-service training and maintains records of content and participation
• Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating of lifeguard staff
• Conduct aquatic facility maintenance as assigned.
• Actively promote member service through aquatic activities through coordination and development of brochures, bulletin boards, and other marketing efforts
• Actively promote member service through swim activities
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director
• Manage the Swim Lessons, Private and Group Lessons, Water Aerobic Classes, and programs for the Aquatics Community.
• Facilitate timely and appropriate responses to member comments/complaints.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work irregular work hours.
• Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
• Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
• Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
• Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
• Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
• Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
