What You'll Do

The Issues Management Staff supports the effective implementation of the Issues Management (IM) Program at the Y-12 Plant. The Issues Management Staff is responsible for:

  • Working with line organizations and management in the implementation of the CNS Issues Management Program.
  • Facilitating causal analysis, extent of condition, action plan development and effective reviews requiring the application of critical thinking and problem-solving skills consistent with these tasks.
  • Providing support to the execution of these tasks which requires application of data analysis techniques and technical knowledge of plant systems and processes in order to ensure action plans correct problems and prevent their recurrence.
  • Validating corrective action plans to assure defined actions will correct the issue and verifying actions are deemed appropriate and effective to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Monitoring the status of issues and actions to assure they are being resolved in a timely manner.
  • Makes presentations to internal and external organizations and customers. Prepares status reports, project/program presentations, and technical reviews.
  • Frequent inter-organizational and external customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues to senior leadership.

Minimum Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • OR Master's degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
  • OR Tenor more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
Preferred Job Requirements
  • Ability to effectively manage customer communications, interfaces, and negotiations covering a wide range of technical and administrative issues and requirements.
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, organization, schedule compliance and data analysis to support Contractor Assurance deliverables to CNS senior management and National Nuclear Security Administration Production Office (NPO).
  • Requires demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience in investigation/analysis of events is desired as well as a broad knowledge of Y-12 requirements and processes related to ES&H, Production, Quality Assurance, Procurement / Contracts, Construction / Infrastructure, and Security.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering or Physical Science discipline.
  • Relevant professional experience in nuclear operations, safety management, emergency response and/or quality assurance. Program management experience preferred.
  • Requires a high level of personal motivation with a willingness to monitor and engage when events occur.
  • A customer service focus and the ability to work within changing situations to meet short deadlines is required.
  • Special knowledge in performing statistical and data analysis on various sets of performance data including assessment results to identify emerging trends is highly desirable.
  • Ability to retrieve information from various sources (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Excel, Topic and Tableau) to conduct analysis is also desirable.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
