As a Systems Engineer, you will capture, organize, and track the project system requirements and verification matrix through completion of various projects for laser driven inertial fusion. Your activities will span risk management, configuration and data management, integrated test planning, technical performance measurement management, and lifecycle baseline management. We are looking for our engineers to apply their technical expertise, problem solving skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact the future of energy!

Responsibilities

• Carry out systems engineering activities in accordance with system engineering standards and practices 
• Capture project system requirements and organize and track throughout the program
• Cascade subsystem requirements, interface and verification plans and documents
• Lead verification through subsystem and system integration
• Drive and coordinate technical decision making 
• Conduct risk assessments on laser systems and ensure risk mitigation plans are developed and implemented
• Develop, manage, and allocate systems requirements & interfaces 
• Manage and execute gated design and operational reviews including PDR (Preliminary Design Review) and CDR (Critical Design Review) 
• Develop, review, and assess verification artifacts throughout the program 
• Ensure all aspects of the system are working across the product lifecycle 
• Act as the negotiator between multiple teams to make sure the system isoptimized 
• Develop strategies, approaches for specialty engineering (operability, reliability, maintainability, supportability) integration, analysis, and verification 

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or other technical field (e.g. mechanical, electrical, systems, etc.) 
• 8 years of Systems Engineering experience – preferably with high energy laser systems or optics 
• Experience with systems engineering tools (Jama, DOORS, etc.) 
• Experience working on development programs for large, complex, integrated systems – preferably from the aerospace, nuclear, or space and defense industry 
• Knowledge of current systems engineering and integration tools and methodologies 
• Effective communication skills, ability to work effectively in teams, demonstrated execution and coordination skills 
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer

• Experience with high energy laser systems, optics, or fusion energy systems
• System Safety analysis experience including Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and Functional Hazard Analysis 
• Basic project management skills including labor estimating and schedule management 
• Demonstrated configuration management experience
